cultural differences

I feel that cultural differences can be very big road blocks in any type of relationship. If you don't understand where a person is coming from or why they think the way they do, you could easily misunderstand, insult or offend someone.
If I sit down with someone from another culture and we were going to try and work on a problem or issue I would deffinitely want to understand what that persons culture said about that situation. Because something that might seem straight forward basic to me may be a really big deal to some other cultures, or the other way around. There are so many differences that need to be taken into account, and if you don't understand that you could lose someone before you even get started.

Understanding a person's view point and where they are coming from to reach that decision is important in any relationship - be it professionally or personally. Learning about cultural differences also can enrich us, as it opens our eyes to the world we live in. Maybe would break down some barriers that we have too.
